After the bye last week, Hauraki North had to travel to Whangamata to start their defence of the title, and did so with a strong 24-9 win. Continuing off from last year, David Harrison's kicking boots were on kicking 4 penalties and a conversion. He also chimed in with a try, hence having a personal tally of 19 of his sides 24 points. Other results went mainly as expected, with Waihi's backs firing against Te Aroha Cobras, scoring 7 tries, with doubles to Brett Ranga and Sam Cooper. Not to be outdone, young Jarrod McDowell of Thames B's scored a hat trick of tries, all from his own chip kicks. |
