McClinchy Cup

Presented by Mr & Mrs J.McClinchy, proprietors of the Rob Roy Hotel in Waihi back in 1952. The team winning the Paeroa-Waihi-Te Aroha inter-town club competition met the winner of the Thames-Hauraki Plains club competition to decide the champion Valley-wide club competition was introduced in 1960. However between 1964-67 it was for the Senior B champion team. The McClinchy Cup was reinstated as the premier club trophy from 1968 to 1977, when again it was relegated to the championship runner-up for the 1978-1980 seasons. From 1981 the  has been the Senior A trophy, as it still is today.
